Pennsylvania Smoking Ban

June 10th, 2008 by Jonathan

Woohoo! The Senate has just passed the Pennsylvania smoking ban. It will go into effect 90 days after Governor Rendell signs the bill. This is a very good thing for our state.

There are three exceptions:

  • Bars with limited food businesses
  • Private clubs, where officers have voted to permit smoking
  • 25 percent of the gambling floors at most casinos

Actually no, this is Fantastic! I moved here from Baltimore MD and was astonished that city workers in downtown Harrisburg were allowed to smoke at their desks, in front of customers, and in a break room. I felt like I was in a time warp when I heard this. We all have the right to breathe clean air.
    Thank you Governor Rendell.
