Developing an iPhone / iPod Touch App

I’m not a programmer, and I don’t own an iPhone or iPod Touch, but the thought of developing an application for this platform interests me. I think I’m going to spend some time going through the App Store to see what is offered and try to think of something that may be missing.

Looks like it’s $99 to join the iPhone Developer Program (Standard) and there may be some financial backing from the iFund to help develop apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Shorpy, History in HD

I absolutely love old photos. Thanks to Dan Cederholm for the link to Shorpy.com. These photos are just amazing and really tell a tale of the history of our country.

Shorpy is a blog about old photos and what life a hundred years ago was like: How people looked and what they did for a living, back when not having a job usually meant not eating.

Many of the jpegs on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress archive. (To query the database click here.) Most were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color using Photoshop CS3, a process that can take around an hour per image.
